About
The Brickwall Filter (BWF) is primarily conceived for compression pre-processing where it allows, in conjunction with other Digital Vision processing options, considerable improvement of final compression quality.
It offers a horizontally and vertically adjustable, extremely sharp cut-off above the pre-set frequency point. This allows careful reduction of incoming out of band detail (resolution) to match that of the process at the desired bitrate.
The vertical filter will gain two advantages for compression:
- General picture quality can be improved due to reduced alias
- The signal entropy is reduced making compression easier (same for horizontal filters)
It does what it says. You get what you want. Simple.
General features
- Separable and non-separable filters
- Special filters for interlaced material
- Separate H/V and Y/C cut-off frequncies
- Adjustable cut-off sharpness
