About
The result of using the the DVNR compression pre-processor in encoding applications, typically for DVD in both SD and HD, is a significant improvement in bit-rate performance, allowing the choice between more capacity, higher quality or a compromise of both.
It does what it says. You get what you want. Simple.

Description
The compression pre-processor consists of two tools; a brickwall filter and a noise reducer.
The Brickwall Filter offers a horizontally and vertically adjustable, extremely sharp cut-off above the pre-set frequency point. This allows careful reduction of incoming out of band detail (resolution) to match that of the process at the desired bitrate.
The vertical filter will gain two advantages for compression:
- General picture quality can be improved due to reduced alias
- The signal entropy is reduced making compression easier (same for horizontal filters)
The core algorithms behind the Noise Reduction are based on the post-production industry standard DVNR motion compensated grain/noise reducer AGR4 ME, adaptively using a combination of an edge-preserving spatial filter and an recursive filtering. The Motion Estimation provides improved recursive filtering and is an enhanced version of Digital Vision's Emmy-awarded and patended PHAME motion estimation technology.
