Largest Facility in Ireland Adds Digital Vision Film Master

Stockholm, Sweden – 11 April, 2007Digital Vision, a leading developer of advanced digital media applications specialising in film and video solutions, announced today that Dublin based facility Screen Scene has installed a Film Master. The facility’s 70 strong team provides post-production on high-profile BBC, ITV and C5 dramas including Rough Diamond, Northanger Abbey, Kitchen, Baker Street Irregulars and Mansfield Park. It is also the leading supplier of post facilities to the local marketplace and national Broadcaster RTE.

Mansfield Park, part of the ITV Jane Austen series, was one of the first jobs Screen Scene graded on the Film Master.
“We have graded for almost 10 years on a hardware grading system and more recently in HD so for us it was about offering more to the DoP, the director and the production,” said Gary Curran Screen Scene’s Senior colourist. After viewing all the colour grading systems in the market Gary made the decision to use the Film Master.

Jim Duggan, Managing Director at Screen Scene comments; “This was an important choice for Screen Scene and one that needed to be driven by the needs of the colourist. We wanted to be able to offer more to the DoP’s and push the creative aspects of the grade, at the same time the system had to work quickly within the schedules that drive jobs through the facility. I like Digital Vision’s philosophy, its creative toolset and the power and speed of the engine behind it all.”

“We do a lot of different types of work including TV drama and docs, commercials and DI for features, and for this you need a piece of kit that can supply all of the different requirements of those different sessions and be reliable in SD, HD and 2k.  This was another reason why we went with the Film Master,” said Curran.

Mansfield Park a 90 minute drama adaptation of the Jane Austen novel was shown recently on ITV as part of the Jane Austen series.
