Batch Processing

As Digital Visions market share grows, the quality of our image processing algorithms and advanced workflow technologies like floating point processing throughout the pipeline mean that there is an ever increasing demand for more processing power. Despite already using the fastest workstations on the planet, there has still been demand for yet power from our clients. This is where Turbine steps in, our very own render farm technology. Being a Digital Vision solution however, it is not just a simple block of processors, which give more grunt to task at hand, but a very sophisticated and scalable solution for task management and batch processing.

After extensive market research we soon realised that every customer needs are different and just making a much faster and ultimately more expensive solution was not what was needed. So Turbine can be many things to different clients. At NAB 2008 we had the first public showing of Turbine running on an 80 Core blade solution, massively increasing the background render speed of projects we through at it.

But now it is a far more refined and has been built in to the Nucoda product range at a core level. In fact we have completely changed the way our render processes work and any tasks from grading, to restoration to mastering are all passed from the Nucoda software to a central controller which takes advantage of any processing nodes available to get the most benefit power possible. The great thing about Turbine is you can split up you processors in to different Turbine engines, so what this means you can set up a Dust and Grain pass on 2 hour project using 40% of the processors and then use the other 60% to assist in the grading session that you are working on with a client. The possibilities are endless and the processing power in unlimited.
