Compression pre-processing for DVD and VOD applications in both SD and HD

With experience in both online and offline encoding applications, compression algorithms, and image enhancement, Digital Vision has the expertise to prepare content prior to encoding for DVD and VOD. The result of using Digital Vision’s pre-processor technology in encoding applications, for DVD and VOD in both SD and HD, is a significant improvement in bit-rate performance, allowing the choice between more capacity, higher quality or a compromise of both.

Typically, pre-processing is applied to mastered material, but Digital Vision also has the tools to deal with remaining artefacts like dust and dirt that will put constrains on the bit budget.

Digital Vision’s pre-processor technology is available in different shapes for different workflows including:

• DVNR pre-processing, either stand-alone to tape/disk or as part of ingest to the encoder.
• DVO tools in the Nucoda products for processing directly to file before encoding.
• licensed DVO technology incorporated in the encoder, like in Sonic’s Cinevision product.
