Weta Digital uses Nucoda system to complete "King Kong"

Weta Digital is one of the leading, state-of-the-art VFX facilities in the world. They produced the "Lord of the Rings" Trilogy (for which they won several Academy Awards). They are now hard at work on Peter Jackson's "King Kong", to be released this Christmas by Universal Pictures.

The movie stars Naomi Watts ("The Ring", "21 Grams"), Jack Black ("Shark Tale", "The School of Rock") and Adrian Brody ("The Pianist") and is a remake of the original 1933 epic written by Merian C. Cooper and Edgar Wallace. "King Kong" will be released on December 14 2005.

Nucoda Colour Timer was selected by Weta Digital for its ability to seamlessly integrate into their DI workflow. Weta Digital CTO Milton Ngan notes, “King Kong has a very complex DI workflow so we needed a product that would easily adapt to fit our needs. Digital Vision’s support team were extremely flexible and worked alongside our technical people to achieve this.”

Simon Cuff, one of the founders of Nucoda and now the Vice President for our Nucoda Business Unit, explains, “We are delighted to be working with Weta Digital on this project. Digital Vision’s open and highly flexible architecture allows Nucoda Colour Timer to easily integrate into the movie’s complex and specific workflow.”
